YEREVAN. - By recognizing the independence of Karabakh, Armenia will place itself outside the Minsk Group negotiation process, MP of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Gagik Jhangiryan told journalists in Yerevan’s Victory Park Monday.

''If Armenia recognizes the independence of Karabakh, this means that we will thereby place ourselves outside the Minsk Group negotiation process,'' Jhangiryan said.

The opposition MP didn't give negative assessment to the work of the Minsk Group. According to him, the group carried out practical steps towards stopping the military actions.

''Stopping of the military actions is the direct or indirect result of the Minsk Group Co-Chairs' activity,'' Jhangiryan said.
