YEREVAN. – Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Defense Army (NKR/Artsakh) serviceman Armen Martirosyan, 20, was killed immediately after the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) monitoring on Wednesday.

“It is noteworthy that the incident occurred just hours after the monitoring conducted on the same day by the OSCE mission, in NKR Martakert Region, which evidences that the Azerbaijani side disregards the mediation efforts aimed at the settlement of the NK conflict, and once again proves the need for the speedy introduction of the mechanisms to investigate incidents,” the respective Ministry of Defense of Armenia statement reads. 

As reported earlier, the adversary violated the arrangement to cease fire along the Line of Contact between the Karabakh and Azerbaijani opposing forces, and which started from Wednesday at 7:30pm and continued until early Thursday morning, by using rifle weaponry, grenade launchers, and mortars.

The NKR Defense Army had informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that, as a result of the gunfire by the Azerbaijani armed forces, Defense Army serviceman Armen Martirosyan (born in 1996) was mortally wounded on Wednesday at around 8pm, in a Defense Army military unit located in a northerly direction.

An investigation is underway to find out the details of the incident.

As a result of the actions taken in response by the NKR Defense Army vanguard units, however, the adversary’s “activeness” was suppressed.
