YEREVAN. - Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan received Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, Natalia Voutova, Thursday.

The meeting addressed the agenda of cooperation between the Human Rights Defender’s Office and the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, as well as a wide scope of issues related to the priorities.

The sides referred to the prevention of bad treatment in detention facilities and joint cooperation in organizing medical assistance there. Issues related to prevention of domestic violence were also discussed.

Attaching importance to role of the Human Rights Defender’s Office in ensuring the rights and freedoms, Ms Voutova expressed readiness to continue and expand the programs implemented in the framework of bilateral cooperation. 

For his part, Arman Tatoyan highly appreciated the role of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan and the work carried out by it, as well as its cooperation and readiness to initiative joint programs in the area of human rights.
