The Ministry of Civil Aviation of Egypt doesn’t confirm the reliability of the information on discovering the debris of the missing EgyptAir plane near the Greek Crete island, the agency’s statement reads.

A number of TV channels earlier stated that the wreckage of the missing plane was found to the south of the Crete island.

“EGYPTAIR has contacted the concerned authorities which did not confirm this information,” the statement reads, RIA Novosti reports.

The EgyptAir plane, flying from Paris to Cairo, disappeared from radars early Thursday morning above the Mediterranean Sea. 66 passengers and crew members were on board.
