A series of eruptions at Italy’s Mount Etna, the highest in Europe, occurred on Saturday night. It lasted a few hours and was accompanied by strong ash emission from the south-east crater and lava. Insignificant ashfall was reported in three villages closest to the volcano - Pedara, Viagrande and Dzhiarre, Lenta reported.

Etna is located on the island of Sicily, the mountain reaches 3,328 meters in height and is considered the most active and the largest active volcano in Europe. The previous emission happened on December 3, 2015. Overall, the volcano erupted about 200 times.
