Parliament of Kyrgyzstan has approved a bill on making amendments to the Civil Procedural Code  and the Law on Counteracting Extremist Activity. The latter provides for toughening of measures in the area of fight against extremism and terrorism.

The draft bill was adopted during all three readings. “It provides for accelerated blocking of websites, which contain ideas of extremisms and terrorism materials,” the parliament representatives said, TASS reports.

The adoption of the amendments to the legislation allows to reduce the terms of considering the instructions of the Prosecutor’s Office on blocking such websites up to three-five days.

It used to take them several weeks or even months to do this. “The amendments will officially take effect after being approved by the republic’s president,” the parliament representatives stressed.

The government initiated the bill and introduced it into the parliament. It has adopted the relevant decision in January last year.

According to the information of the law enforcement authorities of Kyrgyzstan, overall 508 citizens of the republic have left to join the extremists in the military actions in Syria and Iraq. A significant part of them was recruited via social networks, mobile apps and websites.
