Both Azerbaijan and Armenia are important for Russia, but Azerbaijan and Armenia are to resolve the Karabakh conflict, Russian Ambassador in Baku Vladimir Dorokhin said, adding that Moscow can act as a mediator only.

Dorokhin said they would not like Russia to be a place for Armenian and Azerbaijani communities to settle their disputes, RIA Novosti reported.

“And when they say that the Russians’ attitude towards Azerbaijanis is worse than that towards the Armenians - it is abut emotion,” he said.

"The conflict [Karabakh] should be solved by Azerbaijan and Armenia themselves. Anyone, who says that Russia can solve the conflict in 15 minutes or 20 minutes, is wrong. Russia can only be a mediator. No result can be achieved by pressing any of the parties,” he added.

According to the ambassador, the events in early April once again showed how dangerous the current situation is.

“So once again it is clear that there is only one reasonable decision - peace. Parties to the conflict and the international community need to draw right conclusions. Russia will also make conclusions and will increase the mediation efforts,” he emphasized.
