YEREVAN. - The unsatisfactory section of Armenia’s Martuni-Vardenis-Sotk interstate motorway will be capitally repaired.  

Earlier, Armenia’s Ministry of Transport and Communication informed that the repair of the 6.5 – 11.1 km section of the given motorway is included in the list of the 2016 roads under reconstruction in the framework of the “Improvement of Roads of Vital Importance” project.

The competition on the capital repair of the road section has already been announced.  According to the established procedure, the repairs will launch by the end of June.

This road section, which hasn’t been repaired for over 15 years, will undergo capital repair. The disintegrated subbase will be removed, being replaced by a new one.

New large gravel base will be constructed, which will be covered by asphalt. Parallel with this, work on installing water drain pipes, road signs and blockages will be installed.

The work on capital repair of the road section will be carried out thanks to the funding of the World Bank and Armenian Government.
