One of the founding fathers of Silicon Valley Thomas Perkins, died at his home in Belvedere, California, Reuters reported.

It is noted that the co-founder of the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers was 84 years old.

Perknis and his company played a major role in formation of the computer and biotech industries. During the era of the birth of the internet his company funded such giants as Google and Amazon.

He also actively invested in the development of companies - Tandem Computers, Compaq Computer and LSI Logic.
