Members of Congress have abandoned privately funded trips to Turkey, USA TODAY reported.

The move came after investigations held by the House ethics panel and USA TODAY that revealed illegal funding for these visits.

It is noted that the frequent trips were funded by Turkish Coalition of America.

The investigation could have affected the decrease in trips, but, according to some experts, this could also be attributed to increasing tensions between the United States and Turkey.
