YEREVAN. – The National Assembly (NA) delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Friday will meet with the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) of the Council of Europe, in Strasbourg, France.
Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned that on Thursday, Government Chief of Staff-Minister Davit Harutyunyan, and Minister of Justice Arpine Hovhannisyan also traveled to Strasbourg to attend this talk.
It is noteworthy that this meeting precedes the NA special session expected next week, and which will be convened to include the Electoral Code provisions that were amended through consensus.
As a result of the respective discussions, the Armenian authorities accepted, but with certain reservations, four of the five opposition requirements, except for eliminating regional lists. Armenia’s civil society, however, did not join this consensus.
