At a summit in Tashkent the heads of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) signed a memorandum on India’s and Pakistan’s membership to the organization, reports RIA Novosti.

The process of membership of India and Pakistan to the SCO began in 2015. Other members of the SCO are Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan , Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Earlier the SCO Secretary of General Dmitry Mezentsev announced that immediately after removing the UN sanctions, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be considering Iran’s membership. The Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he sees no obstacle to the membership of Iran to the SCO.
