YEREVAN. – If you listen to Pope attentively, there is nothing in his words that could be interpreted as a spirit of “crusaders”, Fr. Lombardi said commenting on Turkish official’s statement.

Talking to reporters in Yerevan, Director of the Holy See Press Office said Pope is trying to build peace, not war.

“I can only call you to read and percept Pope’s words in the right way. I understand that there are other goals, but Pope’s real intention is to create background for peace between the nations. He also prayed for this. There was not a single word against the people of Turkey. He also spoke about reconciliation between the Armenians and Turks,” Fr. Lombardi said.

Representative of the Holy See Press Office also called to avoid interpretation of “crusader” word in the negative context.
