The scientists of the New Horizons have recorded the movement of nitrogen ice layers on Pluto, reports Informing.

Previously the scientists thought that such processes could not have occurred on Pluto. The movement of nitrogen ice is registered in the northern part of the planet.

Scientists believe that hundreds of years ago the methane surface in that region got in touch with ice blocks. As a result of computer modeling they came to conclusion that the moving nitrogen ice blocks of Pluto are from 400 meters to 1 km thick. The New Horizons will gather information about Pluto and its satellite Charon till 2020.
