YEREVAN. - The development of economy and prosperity of the region would in many ways contribute to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of European and Eurasian Affairs, Bridget Brink, said at a meeting with the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan Monday. 

The President underscored the importance of the visits, adding that they have a positive impact on the bilateral ties, the President’s press-service reports. 

Considering that the agenda of Ms. Brink’s visit also includes the activity of the U.S.-Armenia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Affairs, Sargsyan noted that the Armenian side is preparing for the Committee session in Washington in coming fall.   

The President highly appreciated the contribution of the American side to the economic development of the country and the role of the U.S. in ensuring stability in the region.

For her part, Ms Brink expressed conviction that the economic development and prosperity will significantly contribute to the security and stability in the region, including to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.  

In this connection, she inquired about the results of St. Petersburg summit and prospects for the settlement of the conflict.
