YEREVAN. – Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian on Saturday held a joint news conference with his visiting Tajik colleague, Sirojiddin Aslov, in capital city Yerevan.

In Nalbandian’s words, he and Aslov thoroughly discussed the preparations for Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon’s slated visit to Armenia in fall, and Armenian-Tajik relations.

“We exchanged views on the avenues for promoting trade and economic cooperation between the two countries,” added the Armenian FM. “We stressed the importance of the parliamentary format of cooperation.”

He noted that Aslov was presented the efforts by Armenia and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group co-chairs (Russia, US, and France) toward the creation of conditions for the resumption of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace talks, and the steps being taken to carry out the arrangements that were made recently in the Austrian capital city of Vienna, and in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

“We [i.e. the Armenian side] value Tajikistan’s balanced position in connection with the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, and [its] support to the OSCE Minsk Group efforts [to this end],” added Edward Nalbandian.
