Constructive dialogue between Armenia and Turkey, as well as swift resolution of the Karabakh conflict based on Madrid Principles are two main problems on the way to establish peace and security in the South Caucasus, French Ambassador to Armenia Serge Smessow said today at Armenian-French decentralized cooperation forum.

“Armenia and France are linked by common culture, common values and ties. Armenia’s year in France and France’s year in Armenia testify to it,” Smessow read the message sent by French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner.  

The letter also mentioned that Armenia and France have powerful levers and strong will for development of decentralized cooperation that should be financially supported. Finally, Bernard Kouchner expressed content with Armenia’s joining International Organization of La Francophonie, noting it is another step directed to further development of cooperation between the states.
