Famous Sicilian mafia boss Bernardo Provenzano has died in prison in Milan at the age of 83, BBC reported.

Provenzano, who was the leader of mafia and actually the head of all Sicilian mafia, has spent  ten years in jail. He was arrested in 2006 and sentenced to life imprisonment for several serious crimes, including for murder of two judges in 1992.

Prior to that, Bernardo Provenzano has been successfully hiding from the prosecution of law enforcement agencies for 43 years. At the time of the arrest .the Italian police had only one photo of the leader of “Cosa Nostra” made in 1959.

According to the Italian mass media, Bernardo Provenzano suffered from bladder cancer and severe cognitive frustration. He spent the last two years in prison hospital, the Italian newspapers wrote.

Provenzano nicknamed “The Tractor" which he received for the fact that he ruthlessly “mowed” people.
