A group of military coup supporters in Turkey are holding a warship captive at Gölcük Naval Base.

Head of the Turkish navy is also in their hands, Reuters news agency reported citing a Greek military source.  

The coup participants have seized a Yavuz-class frigate, reported RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.

Some of these military coup participants, however, have surrendered to Turkish authorities.

According to latest reports, forces loyal to the incumbent authorities have arrested more than 2,800 members of the military. 

Several participants in the putsch attempt have escaped to Greece by helicopter, and sought political asylum.
