YEREVAN. – Russia’s relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan can be conditional on economic interests, and this is a worrisome factor for Armenia.

Giro Manoyan, Head of the Political Affairs Bureau and the Armenian Cause Office of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party, noted the aforementioned at a press conference on Monday.

In his words, after the failed coup attempt in Turkey, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will continue his current policy.

“That is, relations with Armenia are not a priority, at present, for Turkish authorities, and even more so after the coup attempt,” said Manoyan. “I believe Turkey will continue to develop relations with Azerbaijan.”

The ARF representative also stated that Armenia is concerned by Russia’s arms sales to Azerbaijan.

“And if relations between Russia and Turkey again become as they were before the downed [Russian air force] plane, this is a worrisome factor for us [i.e. Armenia] from the viewpoint that [Russian-Turkish] economic relations can become strategic cooperation,” added Giro Manoyan.
