About 50 thousand children in the north-east of Nigeria can die from malnutrition, announced the regional director of UNICEF in the Western and Central Africa, Manuel Fontaine, reports the Russian Service of BBC . According to him , it is about one-fourth of the total number of children living in  Borno . They need regular medical care and food supplies .

The UNICEF has told that many of the residents of Borno live in dilapidated towns and have almost no drinking water and food. Many families whose houses  were destroyed are living in unsanitary conditions . In June, Doctors Without Borders announced that during last month more than 200 people, who had left their homes, due to militant attacks of the Boko Haram gang, died because of hunger in the city of Bama (state of Borno).

Boko Haram gang who have sworn fealty to the IP continues to present a serious threat to the region . The gang hampers the delivery of the humanitarian aid.
