Turkmenistan closed its border with Kazakhstan for five days in order to strengthen Turkmenistan security measures, Kazpravda.kz reported.

As it is noted, according to the agreement between the two countries, residents of Mangistau region may enter, leave and stay without a visa on the territory of the Balkan province of Turkmenistan for up to 5 days inclusive.

“In accordance with the national legislation of the Republic of Turkmenistan a stay of Kazakhstan citizens over the terms of the simplified entry is on the basis of visas issued in the prescribed manner. Citizens of Kazakhstan, who are subject to a simplified procedure, may enter the territory of Turkmenistan and leave it through the checkpoints defined for international communication”, the statement noted.
