The Iranian side is interested in making investments in the power sector of Armenia and buildinf wind stations with an overall capacity of 50 MW.

The aforementioned was noted during the visit of the Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Levon Yolyan, the Ministry press-service reports.

Specifically, the meetings addressed the implementation of the Armenian-Iranian cooperation programs in the fields of energy, gas, oil, oil products and mining, as well as issues related to the expansion prospects.

In the framework of his visit, Mr Yolyan had meetings with the First Vice President of Iran E. Jahangiri, Energy Minister H. Chitchian, Oil Minister B. Zangeneh, Industry, Mining and Trade Minister M. Nematzadeh.

A wide scope of Armenian-Iranian, as well as regional cooperation issues was discussed at the meetings which were held in a warm and friendly climate. The Iranian side expressed interest and readiness to implement different cooperation programs with Armenia, as well as deepen and expand the cooperation area.

Reference was also made to the Iranian-Armenian second high-voltage transmission line and gasification programs in Armenia's Meghri and Agarak towns. The opportunities to invigorate the hydro power plant construction program on Araks river were also considered.  

In the framework of the Armenian-Iranian and regional cooperation, issues related to the expansion of cooperation, gas purchase and trade were discussed.  Arrangement was reached with the Iranian Oil Ministry to give a final legal solution to the issue in near future.

At the meetings, the Iranian side also expressed interest in making investments in the power sector of Armenia, building wind stations with an overall capacity of 50 MW and opening branches of authoritative Iranian producers in the country.
