YEREVAN. - President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Bako Sahakyan visited Martakert region on Saturday. 

The President got familiarized with the construction work of the roads and hydro power plants (HPPs) in the region.

Sahakyan also visited Alashan village and got familiarized on the ground with the work of the construction of apartments for the Talish residents who abandoned their houses as a result of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan from April 2 to 5. The President noted that the state will do its best to eliminate the consequences of the war.

Thereafter the President had a meeting with community representatives of Poghosagomer village, during which reference was made to the issues related to the functioning of the residence. 

On the same day, Bako Sahakyan convened a meeting in Vank village, with the participation of Martakert regional administration and heads of the communities. 

Issues related to the socioeconomic development of Martakert region and communities, as well as existing issues and promising projects were discussed. Special attention was attached to the harvest of crops.

President Sahakyan gave specific instructions for the proper solution of the issues discussed, stressing that it is henceforth necessary to do one’s best for the region’s agricultural area to develop at high and sustainable pace.

The President was accompanied by PM Arayik Harutyunyan and other officials.
