YEREVAN.  – “Sasna Tsrer” armed group that has been seizing a police compound in Yerevan surrendered to police on Sunday.

Member of the group Varuzhan Avetisyan told 1in.am that over the recent days police adopted the policy of disabling members of the group, by firing at their legs.

“Today a sniper wounded our friend in his chest. We have significantly reduced in number, there around 20 of us. The stormed at night, struck the wall by car and then stopped, for whatever reasons, and  negotiations began. The intensive shots were heard, stun bombs, armored vehicles stormed the area. We have two options, to fight against police and other officers, that would cause bloodshed between people who have little to do with the regime. The other option is to remain in a status of a prisoner of war, it was a difficult decision for us, the status of a POW,” he said.

Avetisyan added that they consider the uprising took place, there is a movement, but they decided not to spill blood and to struggle as POWs.

He added that they feel the victory is close, and warned they would not allow Armenia’s becoming  province of Russia. Avetisyan urged Armenian people to continue the struggle.
