German Minister of the Interior Thomas de Maizière has come up against the idea of complete ban on wearing niqab, burqa and paranja, proposed earlier by his colleagues from CDU/CSU, DW reports.

In his opinion, this decision would violate the Constitution. According to Maizière, despite presenting the list of measures on strengthening the security level in the country, personally he doesn’t support wearing full face veils, but “one can’t ban everything one doesn’t support”.

He was also critical about the possibility of cancelling the dual citizenship. In his words, there are no grounds to again touch on this issue. Together with this, the Interior Minister considers that it is necessary to deprive of German citizenship the jihadists accused of committing crimes or taking part in the military actions in Syria or Iraq.

According to him, the possibility of fast deportation of migrants will also contribute to raising the security level in Germany. The new legislation will be adopted before the end of the powers of the current parliament convocation, Maizière said.
