YEREVAN. – An economically beneficial cooperation has been established between Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan, but I don’t think this could have any negative impact on regional conflicts, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

National Assembly Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, who is also spokesperson of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, told the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He noted, however, that there is no need to either overestimate or underestimate this collaboration.

“It’s natural; each and every country implements a policy for the sake of its own interests,” said Sharmazanov. “Developing of relations is the sovereign decision of each and every state.”

The Armenian parliament deputy speaker expressed a view that Russia-Iran-Azerbaijan cooperation will not have a major impact on the process to resolve the Karabakh conflict.

“Even if it is to have an impact on the conflict, [it will be a] solely positive [impact], since the implementation of long-term projects in the region can rule out the resumption of hostilities,” added Eduard Sharmazanov. “And the more the South Caucasus region is involved in integration projects, we will take that much more steps to approach peace.”
