YEREVAN. – A police officer wounded during a shootout in the seized police regiment in Yerevan died in hospital.

Gagik Mkrtchyan, 45, died on Saturday, 27 days after sustaining a gunshot wound, director of Astghik medical center Robert Kurghinyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The police officer has been in intensive care department with chest and abdominal wounds.

An armed group seized a police regiment in Yerevan on July 17.
