Over 700 IS fighters have been eliminated during an operation in Anbar province of Iraq, General Ismail al-Mahlawi, who commands the armed forces in the region, told TASS.
“About 700 IS members have been killed since the beginning of the operation aimed at liberating Al-Khaldiya city (90 km west from Baghdad),” writes Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, citing the officer.
In his words, currently the military forces are combing out the territory of the residence to prelocate permanent subdivisions there.
Al-Khaldiya is located between two of the largest citied of the province: its administrative center Ramadi and Al Fallujah. The control over both residencies was regained earlier this year during two large-scale campaigns involving he international coalition against IS.
