YEREVAN. - The opening of the photo exhibition entitled “Let’s make the world more humanitarian” took place in Article 3 club of Yerevan on Friday.

Every year on August 19, the world marks the World Humanitarian Day (WHD).

This year, it has kicked off under the motto ‘One Humanity’, urging to unite for 130 mln people, who are currently in need of humanitarian aid.

On the eve of the WHD, OXYGEN fund jointly with OXFAM and UNDP initiated the aforementioned exhibition. The photos underscore the importance of the humanitarian mission carried out in the conditions of social inequity and readiness to resist global disasters.

The exhibition covers three main topics:

- Syrian Armenians who found shelter in Armenia: integration and humanitarian support problems;

- social inequity, which makes people more vulnerable during disasters;

- lowering disaster risk; strengthening the sustainability of communities during calamities and technogenic disasters.

According to the OXFAM Armenian office director Margarita Hakobyan, in the framework of the humanitarian programs, the organization cooperates with the Syrian Armenians which were deported and are now in Armenia. The Armenian Redwood program, UNHCR Migration fund and Mission East also contribute to the program,” Hakobyan added.
