The scientists of the Russian National Institute of Technological Research created a device with a size of 50 microns to detect defects of an aircraft. The smallest flaws in the aviation mechanisms can grow in case of fluctuating tension in the air and become the reason of the crisis. In order to prevent that scenario, an aircraft is getting subjected to a three-dimensional test, which detects defects at an early stage.

The designed laser-ultrasound structure scope allows to characterize the defects according to their mechanical characteristics and shape.  Whereas, the ultrasound bundle created by means of a laser stimulator makes it possible to control the parts when other methods are not effective.
