YEREVAN. – Russian military base serviceman, Captain Aleksandr Svitkoy, 48, also died as a result of Thursday’s fatal road accident in Armenia.

Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned the aforementioned from Saint Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center, in capital city Yerevan, where Svitkoy was being treated.

The Russian military officer had sustained serious brain injuries, and he died on Friday.

A sport utility vehicle (SUV) driven by Captain Svitkoy had gone onto the right shoulder of the road at the Armavir-Gyumri highway, and turned over into a ravine.

As a result, SUV passenger Artak Petrosyan, 38, a contract soldier at the aforementioned Russian military base, had died on the spot, whereas Aleksandr Svitkoy was hospitalized in an unconscious state.

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has opened a criminal case into this incident.
