Military serviceman Arayik Ordubekyan, who fell late in the evening on Friday in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) as a result of the adversary’s shooting, was from Sonasar village in the NKR Kashatagh Region, and the eldest of seven children in his family.

Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned the aforementioned from Sonasar Village Hall.

Ordubekyan’s family had moved to Kashatagh from Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, about one year ago.

“Arayik’s mother will have her eighth child in a few days,” they also told us from the village hall. “And Arayik was serving with passion.

“In the days of the April war [, which Azerbaijan had unleashed against Artsakh], his father had gone to the very [military] position of his son, as a volunteer, and they served together for several months.”

Arayik Ordubekyan was drafted into the army in the summer of 2015.

As reported earlier, as a result of Azerbaijan’s ceasefire violation, military serviceman Arayik Ordubekyan, 19, sustained a fatal gunshot wound, on Friday at around 11:30pm, at the protection area of an NKR Defense Army unit which is stationed in a southerly direction.

And with a decree by the NKR President, Ordubekyan has been posthumously awarded with the Medal for Service in Battle, and in recognition of his bravery during the defense of the Artsakh state border.
