The earthquake in Tanzania left at least 11 people dead and another 100 wounded, RIA Novosti reports, citing France Press.  

“We are sorry to inform about 11 casualties and 100 wounded, many of whom have been hospitalized. We have mobilized the [relevant] services; rescue operations are carried out,” the chief of the province police Kager Augustin Ollomi said.

A 5.7 magnitude earthquake hit northwestern Tanzania on Saturday.

The quake was recorded at about 12:27 pm. The epicenter was located 23 km far from Nsunga settlement. The earthquake focus was recorded at a depth of 10 km.

No information on the victims and destructions has been provided yet.
