The authorities of the Spanish autonomous region of Catalonia are working on creation of new identity cards for future citizens of the independent Republic, Gazeta reported quoting La Vanguardia.

According to the newspaper, the document is created to provide residents of Catalonia with the political, civil and social rights.

It was noted that according to rough estimates, the cost of creation of these identity cards can make €9 million.

A source in the government informed that the authorities of the region want to say to all the Catalans that the new nationality will recognize their social rights which are questionable in other places.

It was reported in May that the Parliament of Catalonia received the first draft constitution of the independent republic for consideration.
