YEREVAN. – The European Union (EU) will continue to support the ongoing reforms in Armenia.

Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, noted the abovementioned at her talk Thursday with Acting Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian, who is attending the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly, in New York City.

Mogherini also welcomed the recent agreement reached between the authorities and the parliamentary opposition in Armenia, with respect to the new Electoral Code of the country, and noted that this was an important step in the run-up to the parliamentary elections next year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In this context, Nalbandian thanked for the EU assistance being provided to Armenia for numerous years.

Mogherini and Nalbandian also reflected on the interim negotiations that were conducted on Monday in Brussels, along the lines of the new Armenia-EU framework agreement, and expressed satisfaction with their effective course.

In addition, the interlocutors exchanged views on the ongoing respective talks, with an objective of completing the process in the near future.
