Nearly 654 mln AMD ($1.38 mln) has been allocated for the preservation of the Lake Sevan ecosystem in 2017.

The relevant expense program was endorsed at the Cabinet session on Thursday. The new Minister of Ecology Artsvik Minasyan was the one to introduce the bill.

The amount allocated for 2016 made up 2.14 bln AMD. The expenses reduced due to the end of provisions for the restoration of the problematic sections of the Arpa river-Lake Sevan underground tunnel, which was carried out through the funding of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. The loan amounted to $10 mln.
