On the Russian side’s initiative, RF Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The Press and Information Department, RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed NEWS.am that the sides discussed the current issues on bilateral and international agenda. Specifically, the sides discussed the preparations for the OSCE Summit in Astana early this December, and prospects of cooperation within the Russia-NATO Council. In this context, the sides exchanged views on European security and control over conventional weapons in Europe. The sides also discussed the Middle East peace process, as well as Russia,-U.S. cooperation in a number of problems, including the situations in Afghanistan, Sudan and the South Caucasus.
