NATO will not take part in ground operations in Syria and Iraq, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on arrival at the conference of donors to Afghanistan, TASS reported.

He said that they assisted in the training of officers for the Iraqi army and in the near future would direct AWACS aircrafts for operation in Syria

Speaking about actions of the alliance in Afghanistan, Stoltenberg also emphasized that NATO considers that it is more important to assist Kabul in independent providing of country's security than participate in operations.

At the moment “Resolute Support”  noncombat mission of NATO numbering about 14,000 people is placed in Afghanistan, it is engaged in helping the Afghan army in planning of operations, logistics and ensuring its intelligence.
