YEREVAN. – There was no special problem, at the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) summit in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, with respect to Armenia’s representative not being appointed Secretary General of this organization, and this matter has been moved to the end of the year.

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia MP Artak Zakaryan, who is also Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, told about the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Such situations may occur; this is a matter to be resolved through consensus,” added Zakaryan. “I believe it definitely will be resolved at the end of the year.”

And when asked whether Russia did not agree with the respective candidate that Armenia had nominated, he responded: “Since many details are not discussed openly and this is a matter to be agreed at the level of the heads of [CSTO] states, I believe this could purely be a matter that is conditioned on certain circumstances, [and] which requires additional discussions, [and] therefore it has been moved to the year-end meeting.”

The Collective Security Treaty Organization comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
