YEREVAN. – Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan on Tuesday met with Kunio Mikuriya, the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO).

Mikuriya has arrived in Armenia to attend a European regional workshop on the precept of “single window,” Press Office of the Government of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

The PM presented details on the Armenian government policy toward simplification of tax and customs administration. He also stressed that the primary objective of the respective reforms is to create a level, fair, and competitive playing field for conducting business in Armenia. In this context, Karapetyan underscored cooperation with the WCO.

Kunio Mikuriya, in turn, noted that the World Customs Organization plans to expand bilateral cooperation with the Armenian government. In addition, he positively assessed the introduction of the single-window system, and the use of information technology in the simplification of administration and modernization of the border checkpoints of Armenia. 

Subsequently, the interlocutors exchanged views on numerous matters. They also reaffirmed their commitment to continue real results-oriented collaboration and the joint work.
