YEREVAN. – It seems to me that Russia clearly realizes that the key—if we may say so—to maintaining dominance in the Caucasus is in Armenia.

Political scientist and former deputy foreign minister of Armenia, Ambassador Arman Navasardyan, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“If they [i.e. Russia] lose the key, they will not lose Armenia alone,” he added.

In his words, however, the situation also has the opposite meaning.

When asked, in that case, what will happen with Armenia given the neighboring Turkey and Azerbaijan, Navasardyan noted: “You yourself answered your question.”

“We [i.e. Armenia] should not conduct a unilateral policy,” the diplomat concluded. “There is an entire science: the policy of small countries.”
