At least 53 people were killed when a packed passenger train derailed and overturned in Cameroon, the country's transport minister said.
Some 300 people were injured as a result of the railway accident, BBC reported.
The train overturned near Eseka when it was travelling between the two biggest cities, Yaounde and Douala. According to eyewitnesses, at least ten wagons were overturned.
It is reported that the train was busier than usual as landslides caused by heavy rains had blocked roads across Cameroon. There were 1,300 people on the train instead of the usual 600.
