YEREVAN. – Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia, and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta have years of history. But at this point, a unique—I would say, a historic—bridge is being formed between the world’s first Christian country, and an ancient Sovereign military order.

President Serzh Sargsyan on Monday stated the abovementioned at the end of his talk with Fra’ Matthew Festing, the Prince and Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, who is paying a state visit to Armenia (PHOTOS).

As per Sargsyan, the interlocutors discussed bilateral cooperation, and matters that are on the international agenda.

In his words, they stated that, for further development of cooperation, the two sides possess what is most important: a foundation of values that stem from the same source, which enables the two sides to have an identical approach toward solving problems. 

The President added that they also spoke about the special ties between Armenia and the Holy See, and the current tragic situation in Syria—and which has turned into a humanitarian disaster.
