Kurdish co-mayors Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı of Turkey’s Diyarbakır were detained on Tuesday.

They were taken under custody along the lines of the investigation being conducted by the antiterrorism unit of the prosecutor’s office of this city.

Earlier in the day, Kışanak had testified before the Turkish parliament commission that investigates the military coup attempt in July, reported Cumhuriyet newspaper of Turkey.

Following these detentions, police surrounded the Diyarbakır City Hall building.
