YEREVAN. – Finland’s new Ambassador to Armenia, Arya Makkonen—whose diplomatic residence is in the Finnish capital city of Helsinki, on Friday presented her credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

First, the President congratulated the ambassador on her appointment, and wished her success, Press Office of the President informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He also noted that the relations between Armenia and Finland develop steadily, the political dialogue is continuous, the two countries cooperate successfully within international organizations, and they maintain same approaches with regard to numerous international matters. According to Sargsyan, all this creates a good basis for the strengthening and deepening of Armenian-Finnish relations.

The President also stressed the importance of expanding the legal framework, invigorating interparliamentary cooperation, and utilizing this potential in interstate relations.

Ambassador Makkonen, for her part, concurred with Serzh Sargsyan’s assessment on interstate relations. She underscored the need for deepening of cooperation in mutually beneficial domains, to enhance trade and economic ties.

At the ensuing talk, the interlocutors spoke about regional matters and challenges as well as the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
