There are 240 monuments in Armenia in need of preservation, Minister of Nature Protection Aram Harutunyan said in the Parliament today.  

The Ministry has submitted appropriate program to the Armenian Government but it was not included in budget, thus the issue remains unsolved.

According to Harutunyan, monuments should have certificates, as frequently it occurs that the territory was already privatized.

The Minister found difficulty in replying why the government was reluctant to allocate funds for preservation of the monuments. However, Harutunyan promised to seek funds and appeal to the international agencies.

Interestingly, the program was prepared by the government.
