Armenia must not allow the negotiation process to be monopolized by one organization. Armenia must not spare efforts to have Nagorno-Karabakh return to the negotiating table, Karen Bekaryan, Head of the European Integration analytic center, told journalists December 4. According to him, the international community “half got” the Armenian side’s position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict due to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s speech at the OSCE Summit in Astana: Nagorno-Karabakh’s recognition is “the red line” for Armenia, and it will not turn back.

“Armenia will recognize Nagorno-Karabakh and render military assistance to it,” Bekaryan said. He recalled Serzh Sargsyan’s words about Azerbaijan’s huge military expenditures, while the OSCE is supplying arms to Azerbaijan along with calling on the sides to seek peace. The OSCE’s behavior precludes any possibility of settling the conflict. “Territorial concessions to Azerbaijan are impossible when you are well aware your are ‘granting’ them a springboard for attack,” Bekaryan said.
