Russia will supply up to ten S-300 air defense systems to Kazakhstan, Interfax- MNA was informed by the secretariat of the CIS Council of Defense Ministers. Russia intends to start free of charge supplies in 2011.

As NEWS.am reported earlier, Russia and Kazakhstan have agreed to create a joint air defense system.

“Russia and Kazakhstan will create a joint regional air defense system. Armenia and Belarus have been Russia’s main partners in air defense field so far, now it is time to expand,” said chief of Kazakh air defense forces Lt. Gen. Alexander Sorokin.

The Kazakh defense forces will be responsible for defending Russian air space along the border with Kazakhstan.
