Liberalization of visas between EU and Armenia is rather long and is preceded by relaxation of visa requirements first of all providing for reduction in visa application fees from 60 € to 30 €, Gunnar Wiegand, European Commission’s Director for Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia, told a press conference in Yerevan.

He stressed the relaxation of visa regime will refer only to diplomats, employees of the international agencies and people often traveling to the European states  The EU Commissioner expressed hope talks on transition to relaxed visa regime will be over next year.

As to liberalization of visa regime between Armenia and the EU it provides for visa-free short-term entry into the EU states for Armenian citizens. “However, liberalization of visa regime will not give the right to travel free on the EU territory as the Europeans do,” Wiegand said.
